Haa Dzongkhag Surpasses 2024 tourism target, gaining global recognition

Haa Dzongkhag has achieved a remarkable milestone in tourism, exceeding its 2024 target by 69.42%. A total of 8,471 tourists visited Haa from January to December 2024, far surpassing the initial goal of 5,000. This also represents a staggering eight-fold increase compared to 2023, underscoring Haa’s rising appeal as a must-visit destination.

The total arrivals included 2,057 international tourists, 1,934 regional visitors, and 4,480 domestic travelers. This surge reflects the growing interest in Haa’s unique cultural heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and immersive community-based tourism experiences.

Adding to this success, BBC has recognized Haa as one of the top 25 travel destinations for 2025, solidifying its position on the global travel map. This prestigious acknowledgment highlights Haa’s pristine environment, deep-rooted traditions, and its commitment to sustainable tourism.

Looking ahead, Haa Dzongkhag has ambitious plans to further enhance its tourism offerings. Key initiatives include strategic branding, improved visitor experiences, and the development of new tourism assets. These efforts will focus on preserving Haa’s authenticity while ensuring long-term benefits for local communities.
